Is Your Family Growing? Here’s Why It’s Time to Upgrade Your Primary Bath

If you’re extending your home to family members that need a place to stay, it’s important to feel as comfortable and cozy as possible. When you’re growing your home base, you may consider remodeling your home before your world changes. According to Kitchen & Bath Design News, it’s been found that remodeling, as opposed to new construction, will support the kitchen and bath industry in 2023. Making your primary bathroom as comfortable as possible with a remodel will provide you with a safe haven that is relaxing and welcoming when you need it most.

You Are Tired of Your Old Bathroom

One of the best reasons to consider investing in an upgraded primary bath is that you are simply tired of your existing bathroom. As homeowners, you will rejoice in the time you have to relax and unwind in your bathtub or shower, which is why it’s so important to have a sanctuary that is truly your own. If your primary bathroom is outdated or if its fixtures are not energy-efficient, it may be time to consider an entire remodeling project.

Lack of Fixtures

Your primary bathroom should be a place of comfort, especially after a long day with the family. If your primary bathroom is lacking an updated bathtub or shower setup, it might be time to think of a remodel. Consider the type of fixtures and plumbing that you are interested in. You can also opt to invest in energy-efficient solutions that will help to preserve more water with each use.

You May Not Have Time in the Near Future

While opening your home to those in need is one of the best feelings in the world, it can also severely limit the time you have available to yourself. If you are thinking of a bathroom remodel but are in the process of growing your family, it’s best to complete your remodeling projects ahead of time with the best bathroom remodeling contractors available. This will also provide you with more time to spend with your family.

Choosing to remodel your primary bath is one of the best decisions you can make before opening up your home. Working alongside the best bathroom remodeling contractors is a way to get the job done while allowing you to maintain your peace of mind throughout the entire process.

Step into Style: Get Your Dream Contemporary Primary Bathroom Before the Year Is Over

Have you been considering a much needed primary bathroom upgrade, but have yet to commit? Well there’s still time this year to make it happen, but you should start planning now. At Flansburg Construction, we have a dedicated team of highly skilled design + build specialists, ready to guide you through the process of remodeling your space.

There are a lot of styles to choose from, so we understand that the decision can feel daunting, but working with a design + build team means you have a trusted partner to help you with all of the tough decisions – like color scheme, material selection, making sure a new space matches your lifestyle and needs, and staying within your budget.

If you are looking to gather some inspiration for your next bathroom project, here are the top three design styles that our clients say they love:

Contemporary

A contemporary bathroom embraces the current trends and aesthetics of modern times. You’ll see lots of clean lines, minimalism, and a focus on functionality. Sleek, geometric shapes, smooth surfaces, materials like glass, concrete and chrome, and a neutral color palette with a bold pop of color or two blend together to create a clean, uncluttered look. If storage is a concern, you won’t have to worry—there will be plenty hidden away throughout the space. With elements like these, it’s easy to see why so many homeowners love this clean, simplistic and sophisticated style.

Traditional

Based on design elements that have been favorites throughout history, traditional-style bathrooms are a spectacular choice, especially for “homes of a certain age.” With an emphasis on ornate details, intricate patterns, and an overall sense of luxury, materials like marble and granite, elaborate finishes and fixtures, and an opulent color palette set the stage. Freestanding clawfoot tubs, pedestal sinks, and vanities with an antique flair add yet another layer of refined, timeless beauty.

Transitional

This best-of-both-worlds design is the perfect blend of traditional and contemporary, creating a gorgeous, timeless space. With a neutral, muted color palette, classic elements, and sleek, modern finishes, the ultimate transitional space combines warmth and comfort with simplicity and functionality for a timeless look you will love.

Adding Personality to a Builder-Grade House in Bordentown

The 20-year-old Bordentown, NJ, house our clients recently purchased was full of original, impersonal builder-grade elements that desperately needed some work to reflect the new owners’ personal style. They asked our team to transform the primary bathroom—and remove the enormous corner deck jacuzzi—as well as update the family room fireplace to make it a true focal point in the room.

A Classic Primary Bath

The primary bathroom’s original layout included a huge jacuzzi bath in one corner and a tiny shower stall with an acrylic pan and framed enclosure in another. Both were in bad shape from years of use and didn’t fit the family’s needs or their style, so we eliminated the tub completely and expanded the shower stall into a roomy 6-foot-by-four-foot space. A wide bench and custom niche, add comfort and functionality while a frameless glass enclosure completes the look.

We then replaced the original builder-grade double vanity with a stunning Midnight Blue one with open shelving that stretches 72 inches for extra space on the light gray quartz countertop, a perfect match to the floor tiles. Classic brushed gold mirrors, fixtures, and lighting add a touch of elegance and warmth against the rustic white shiplap walls. For added functionality and full illumination, we installed four recessed lights on a dimmer switch.

Fireplace Facelift

The home’s original understated gas fireplace felt disconnected from the high, vaulted ceiling in the family room, and definitely didn’t match the clients’ eclectic décor. In addition, the placement of the TV meant that it was only visible to about half the seats in the room.

So, we installed a beautiful natural quartz ledger stone feature around the fireplace and all the way up the high wall. A soapstone hearth and rustic barn beam style mantle serve as the finishing touches to this organic focal point. Above the mantle, the TV sits in its new position, perfectly visible to all corners of the family room and adjoining kitchen area.

Our clients absolutely love how these focused transformations have helped their house truly feel like home! Ready to begin your home transformation journey? Schedule a consultation with our team today.

Above-the-counter bowl sinks are also a great luxury touch you can add to any bathroom.

Bring Some Natural Elements In

Houseplants add a spa feel to your bathroom. A bit of nature in the form of plants can deliver an oasis feel. You can add an arrangement of small plants or a single large plant and create a feeling of calm. Surround yourself with nature as you relax in your new bathroom to feel at peace.

Use Organizational Tools

Baskets are a great way to keep your bathroom organized, and they are decorative. Choose baskets made from natural materials in neutral colors. Baskets are decorative and functional, giving your bathroom a spa-like look and feel. Keeping your space organized is key to creating the relaxing atmosphere you hope for. What to Consider Including in Your Modern Kitchen Remodel

Remodeling your kitchen is one of the smartest investments you can make. In fact, according to Zillow, even minor remodels offer an average ROI of 81.1%! If you’re thinking about modernizing your kitchen, here are some remodeling considerations to discuss with your design-build company before the project begins.

Modern Faucets

Whether you’re cooking, cleaning, or just grabbing a glass of water, your kitchen should be a functional space in your home. Modern faucets give you more flexibility and functionality, with options including pull-down faucets, automatic sensors, and faucets with multiple water settings. An updated faucet will make life in your kitchen so much easier!

Outlets and Chargers

When homes were built decades ago, nobody knew we’d have so many devices to charge. A kitchen remodeling project gives you an opportunity to make sure you have enough outlets in the space for all of your appliances and gadgets. You can even find outlets with built-in USB and USB-C chargers, so you can easily throw your phone on a charger while you’re cooking or plug in your child’s laptop while they complete homework at the table.

Functional Drawers

Nowadays, you can find drawers that offer all sorts of different functions. There are microwave drawers, drawers for garbage cans and paper towels, dish drawers, and even corner drawers to save space. When you’re remodeling your kitchen, don’t be afraid to ask about these different types of drawers to enhance functionality. A design-build firm that appreciates attention to detail will help you determine the best drawers for your modern space!

A Large Sink

Your faucet is only as good as the sink it fills up, so make sure you have a sleek sink. Large single-basin kitchen sinks have been a popular option for a while now, giving you ample space for cooking, baking, and washing larger dishes.

Easy-to-Clean Counters

When it comes to a modern kitchen remodeling project, the goal is to make the space appear and function better than before. If you’re upgrading your countertops, work with your design-build contractors to ensure you choose a material that’s easy to clean and is resistant to scratches and stains. Quartz and engineered stone countertops are two popular options if you’re looking for enhanced style and functionality.

Kitchen remodeling is a big commitment, but it’s a lot easier when you plan everything out and work with an experienced and focused design-build firm like Flansburg Construction. If you’re ready to remodel your kitchen, contact us today.

How Your Basement Can Be Transformed Into a Livable Room

Many homeowners are finding the space solutions that they need with basement remodeling. A home remodeling project like this can add livable square footage to your home. According to This Old House, about 60% of homes have moisture problems in their basement, and about 38% of those homes are at risk of developing a mold problem. Here is how basement remodeling can end moisture problems and increase your livable space.

Get to Know The Process

Hiring professional services to transform this area into a livable space is a process of several different steps. For example, if you are in the 60% of homeowners with a wet basement problem, one of the steps that will need to be part of the process is waterproofing. Waterproofing entails sheetrock, insulation installation, flooring, and plumbing if necessary.

What Do You Want From The Space?

Advising your design-build remodeling company what you envision the space becoming will allow you to begin a communicative and collaborative basement remodeling experience.

For example, if you want to create guest quarters, you may include a new bathroom in the basement. If you want to create a game room, adding a bar and other features may be necessary. At the basic, you will need walls, flooring, and a way to section the spaces off.

Consulting With a Professional

A basement remodel is a great way to expand the size of your home without changing the footprint, but it is not a DIY project. It is strongly suggested that you consult a professional experienced in this area of remodeling.

A professional with experience transforming basements into livable spaces will easily devise a plan that will match your creative vision as well as provide functional offerings that the room did not possess before. A design-build company can take care of your needs every step of the way, from consultation to construction.

If you need more elbow room in your home, consider the rooms in your home that are not reaching their functional and visual potential. Amazing things can be done to create a space that the whole family will enjoy. Call Flansburg Construction for a one-stop shop of expert remodeling services. We’d be happy to answer any questions you have so you can learn more about how we can turn your basement into your family’s favorite space.
